It is important to register with a Third Political Party. In the state of Colorado, if you are an official minor party you have automatic ballot access, which means that you do not have to petition to get on the ballot every year. To become an official minor party in the state of Colorado you must obtain at least 5% of the total votes in a state-wide race, petition the state of Colorado with 10,000 signatures, or have at least 1000 registered voters. To maintain your minor party status you must receive at least 1% of the total vote in a state-wide race or have at least 1000 registered voters affiliated with your party. So, as you can see, it is important to register with a third political party.
