Mara jump-started her career when she took herself and her guitar backpacking in Scotland after finishing college. She started playing in pubs and developed a ravenous following of international travelers and loyal locals, who persuaded her to come back for the Edinburgh Festival. Within two months, she was playing 5 packed nights a week, selling (and signing) all available copies of her acoustic EP, accepting invitations for live radio appearances and enjoying life as a featured performer in the Fringe Festival. Fans who discovered her there have continued to support her music career to this day in countries around the world and at home. Mara's music has proven to know no language or cultural barriers.

Mara (pronounced like marathon) is a native New Yorker currently living in Los Angeles and touring colleges like Cal State LA, who created their own "Behind The Music" program so that they could invite Mara to share her motivational story with the students. She also plays at popular clubs such as Martini Lounge, Coconut Teaszer, The Gig, 14 Below and The World Famous Comedy Store.
