NARC Summer Criterium ResultsNARC Riders Rule the Cat 4sComplete race results are in! Professional photos, too. It was all NARC in the Cat. 4 race at the NARC Summer Criterium held at West Oak OfficePark on Sunday, June 6. In addition to taking three of the top five spots, the Cat 4 NARCriders clearly dominated the field and the race. But it wasnt only in the Cat. 4race that NARC shone -- the clubs total take for the day were 1 first place, 2second places, two third places, one fourth and one fifth. Sponsorship of the race came from the club, and from club sponsor Free FliteBicycles and COX Atlanta Velo. Heres a recap of each race and NARC members who competed. John Greene, Pete Antonvich and Clara Constantinscu competed inthe Pro 1/2 event. In the Cat 3 event, Bill Brewer took second place, with support from JohnPatterson, Tom Louie, David Magliore, Harry Campbell and Tom Fahey. The Cat 4 event was a NARC highlight -- David Poel, Doug Piner, Matt Tonnos, GaryDaniels, Stephen Carhart, David Abrahams, Max Finklebiner, Dub Smith, Joe Knoerlerepresented NARC. And NARC dominated: leading at the front, covering moves, showing somevery aggressive riding, including a few breakaways. Max Finklebiner took a prime.And in the final lap, the NARC boys moved into position -- with David Abrahamsgiving a stellar leadout to up-and-coming sprinter Stephen Carhart. And at theline, it was all NARC -- Carhart took the victory in a wicked two-up sprint,with Gary Daniels placing third and Matt Tonnos taking fifth-- NARC dominated in three out of the five places awarded! In the Cat. 5 race, NARC was represented by William Birmingham, Alan Gabrielli, JohnTagliarini, Larry Crook and Bob Skinner. And in another wild and woolly sprintfinish, Larry Crook took second place. In the Juniors event, William Birmingham competed. In the Women's race, NARC was represented by Jody Kosinski. There were three master's events. Masters 35+: Representing NARC were Doug Piner, Ronald van Blerck, Tom Louie, DubSmith, Harry Campbell, and David Magliore. Despite some aggressive racing, thecompetition proved too overwhelming in the final bunch sprint. Masters 40+: Mike Hoffland, David Magliore and Gary Daniels raced, with MikeHoffland finishing third and Gary Daniels taking fourth. AlanGabrielli raced in the 45+ category.
