 WENDY'S WORDS

It's almost Fall again and we are all asking the same questions - where did the summer go? As usual it went by way too quickly. Did you get to those projects you planned early in June? Or are you like me and have them all still stacked by your sewing machine. Don't worry, they are like the dust - and will still be there tomorrow! Fall brings many exciting things to Quilter's Dream. First is the Quilt Walk, then vending at shows and a new local Shop Hop (read more later). And of course our annual fall mystery retreat. (The retreat is November 4, 5 & 6.) We only have a couple of spots left so if you want to go you must call me and put down your deposit. And, of course, lots of wonderful classes are offered.

Sis Robin (now that daughter Robin is working full time at the shop I have to tell them apart - my fault for naming my daughter after my sister - little did I ever expect to be working with them both at the same time!) and I will be heading off to Houston in late October for Quilt Market. We hope to bring back lots of new ideas and products. It's always an exciting time for us as we get to visit old friends as well as take classes and meet "famous" quilters. (I'll be hoping to have lunch with Eleanor again!)

Our quarterly Open House for classes will be Sunday, September 9th from 11 am until 3 pm. Many of the teachers will be on hand that day to help you decide which class is right for you. They are always very helpful with picking out fabrics and other choices. This is the second day of the quilt walk so you could combine both for an all day Quilting Experience in Antioch.

Beth Hartford won our 4th of July Quilt. We are always excited when a member of our quilting family wins. Beth entered it in the Lake County Fair and it took Champion in its division. It will be hanging during the Quilt Walk so don't miss one last chance to see this beautiful quilt before Beth takes it home.

buchen Wroclaw QUILT WALK THROUGH ANTIOCH

The Quilt Walk - it's just around the corner. And this year it is co-sponsored by the Antioch Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

September 8th and 9th in Antioch

Recommendation is to start at the shop, the Lakes Region Historical Museum (at Main and Depot Streets) or the Chamber of Commerce booth at the Arts and Craft Fair on Toft Street. Booklets will be available at any of those three sites and will list where all the quilts are located and include your Viewers Choice Ballot. (Ballot boxes are at the three above sites. We are adding an additional street this year - Orchard Street (i.e. True Value, etc.) Each store open during Saturday and Sunday will have a box for the Chamber of Commerce coupon drawing. Many of the pieces in the show will be for sale. If you are interested in them you will need to talk to us at the shop.

Save the weekend of October 19-21 for a new unique Shop Hop. This hop will involve 7 local shops. Debbie Cafferty has put together a seven-part mystery for us and each shop will have one section. This hop could actually be done in a day but you will want to spend a little time at each shop. Details will be available in all the shops by mid-September. Shops participating include: Quilter's Dream, Terry's Sunshine and Shadows, Sewing Source, Touch of Amish, Barrington Sewing Center, Prints Charming and Quilt Studio.

Village Quilters of Lake Bluff & Lake Forest Show
We will be vending at this show on October 20th from 10-4 & October 21st from 12-4. It will be held at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest. I've been told that they have between 150 and 200 quilts to hang. This is definitely one show to put on your calendar. It is the same weekend as our Shop Hop so Robin and I will be bouncing between the two.
