9-PATCH EXCHANGE

Do you love the versatile little 9-Patch? Then join us for a 9-Patch Exchange. Make 32, keep one for yourself and bring the other 31 into the store. If all goes well you will get back 31 different ones. Rules are simple:

  1. albergo economico KatowiceBlock should be 9 ½" unfinished
  2. You must use the Southern Belle White Muslin for the ‘background’ (the four side squares)
  3. Pick one fabric from you stash and make them all the same – it’s easier and quicker. You can use more than one if you desire but be sure that all five squares in any one block are the same.
  4. Blocks must be turned in by September 30th.

A full instruction sheet will be available at the store with rules and instructions for making the blocks. If you choose to set your blocks together with solid white squares you will have a bed size quilt in the Single Irish Chain pattern. It is a beautiful quilt!

UPDATE ON EVENTS IN ANTIOCH

The new band shell on the east side of the town (behind our store) is ready to use. The schedule of concerts is set. Every Sunday from June 10 through August 26 (except 7/22 and 8/5) there will be a FREE live concert at 5:00 pm (they will last about 90 minutes). Some of the groups coming are The Lake Area Community Band, The Blues Brothers, and other groups in the genre of

Country, Jazz, Swing, Disco, and Big Band. It should prove to be an exciting summer of music. The full schedule will be available soon.

The Mother’s Day weekend carnival will be set up in the new area around the band shell instead of it’s usual place on Toft Street. We are planning to put signs up in our parking lot to keep it open for you, our customers. Parking should not be a problem for our Spring PJ Party since it is early in the morning!

The Annual June Arts & Craft Fair on Father’s Day Weekend will still be on Toft Street. I’ve heard that there are even more vendors this year than before so mark your calendar

We now have Antioch Post Cards! These are cards that were produced through the Chamber of Commerce and will only be available in the Antioch area. We will have them for sale. They plan on producing different cards to reflect all the variety in our community.

cheap hotels in NoordwijkKIDS QUILT CAMP

This program is designed for kids from ages 8-12. It will be held June 26th through 29th from 10 to 11:30 am each day. Cyndi teaches our kids and if you had a child in one of her classes you know what a dynamic teacher she is. The goal is for each child to have his/her quilt done by the end of the week. They will be piecing the top on a sewing machine from home, can use Mom’s stash or put together a kit from the shop. The cost of the kit will be $15.00, as it will include everything to complete the quilt. Cyndi will cover many topics including Safety while Quilting to picking out colors. Space will be limited. The cost of the class only will be $30.00. And as much as we like to have you in the shop, we are asking that the parents do not stay during the class. There are many wonderful shops in town for your browsing pleasure.

SHOP HOP XI

Although some of you may not get this newsletter before April 6 (delivery is so unpredictable) for those who do here’s the information on the Shop Hop XI. This is the one you may have heard about – sponsored by the shop Sew many Antiques in Pearl City, IL. We were invited to participate a few weeks ago and have the forms and pin for sale. The deal is: purchase a registration form and button for $5.00. This is your ‘ticket’ to the sixteen participating shops. Visit these shops on April 6, 7 and 8 and receive discounts, gifts and other specials. You need to have your button so the other shops know you are a Hopper! The shops are wide spread – from here to Moline area so you probably won’t get to all sixteen – although I’m sure some will! I’d love to do it myself but since we are a participating shop I guess I’ll have to stay home at Quilter’s Dream. I’m depending on you to report back details!!!

RECESSION – BAH HUMBUG

There is a sign at the Tulip Patch over on Lake Street (great gift shop – everything you’d ever want) that says:

We’ve heard there is going to be a Recession.

We choose not to participate.

We are jumping on the bandwagon and also choosing not to participate. We will continue to offer you the best in products and service. You can count on us!!!
