Beginner

BEGINNER Classes assumes that you have rotary cutting knowledge and you are proficient with your sewing machine. If not, please consider taking the Beginning Piecing class before signing up for the following classes.

WINNING HANDS (CARD TRICK) – FRAN

This quilt is an easier version of the Card Trick pattern. It features four "cards" that look interlocked and is an easy pattern to do. It has only straight seams and the blocks are separated with simple sashing. The "cards" can be totally different colors or from one color family. You can choose from wall size to queen! Book required

SHADED 9-PATCH – BETH

All the versatility of a log cabin without all those strips! This one goes together quickly and can be set in a wide variety of patterns. Choose an assortment of lights and darks and we’ll take it from there! Pattern is provided.

Saturday, April 21: 12-4 PM $25.00

MACHINE QUILTING - DEB

Deb will teach you the basics of machine quilting including 'stitch in the ditch', echo quilting and stippling. Just being in a class with Deb is a learning experience and you'll go away with the confidence to machine quilt any piece! We’ll provide you with a practice piece to use before quilting on your own tops.

STAR LOG CABIN – WENDY

Another great book from Quilt-in-a-Day – The Star Log Cabin is a dynamic look. It’s perfect for the beginner who wants to learn a new technique and have a quilt that will really be impressive! Book required.

Saturday, April 28: 9 – 12 noon $25.00

SUNBONNET SUE OR OVERALL SAM – JENNIFER

Learn the fusible, machine appliqué technique while creating this adorable 4-block wall hanging. You can later expand on this to create any entire quilt. Book is required but we will give you your first 4 panels of printed fusible.

Tuesday, May 1: 6:30 – 8:30 PM $25.00

HAND QUILTING - PEGGY

Peggy will teach you how to layer and baste your quilt and the needle rocking technique of quilting. Practice piece is included. Space is limited.

Advanced Beginner

ADVANCED BEGINNER Classes are for students who are proficient with rotary cutters and machines and have taken classes before. These classes are more difficult and thus require experience.

TRIPLE SCRAP IRISH CHAIN – FRAN

This quilt is an antique design that works well with today’s fabrics and lifestyles. It is done with only two blocks despite how complex it looks. You can do it totally scrappy, scrappy with a certain color range or planned with only a few colors. Whatever you choose it is easy with only straight seams. It can be made up to a king size. Book required.

Thursdays, May 3 and 10: 6:30 – 8:30 PM $30.00

PIONEER BRAID – FRAN

The quilt is made of what looks like interwoven strands as in a braid. It is really made of simple pieces. This is only one shape to cut and the light and dark pieces are stitched together alternately. It uses two color families for contrast. Depending on the size of the elements and the length of the strips, it can be from doll size to queen size. (Two of the staff are already considering taking the class!)

RED ROSE WALL HANGING – BETH

Time to get ready for spring – plant a beautiful rose bush and enjoy this rose all year long. Just like the real garden every rose that is done is a little different. Or change the colors and make a different flower – yellow for a sunflower, etc.

NANA’S GARDEN FROM QUILT IN A DAY – BETH

This lovely quilt can be made in a wide variety of sizes and is not nearly as complex as it appears! Beautiful floral fabrics, strip piecing and step-by-step directions will help you create a year round garden! Use your stash, fat-quarters or strips. 2-session class. Book required.

Tuesdays, May 15 & 22: 6:30 – 9 PM $30.00

FRIDAY NIGHT MYSTERY – LAURA

Laura takes a turn at creating a mystery class for us. No one else (nope, not even me) will know the answer to this one. Become Inspector Clewsew while you unravel this mystery. We’ll give you yardage but that’s all you’ll learn before class. This should prove to be a stormy night!
