I hope that you will feel as though you know me a little better when you have finished reading this page. I am a second generation REALTOR; my father, Rich Bankston and his wife, Shelby Bankston, are partners in an agency in Franklin, NC. I live in Elizabeth City, NC, with my wife, Belinda, and my youngest daughter, Laura Elyse, who will be attending East Carolina University in the fall. I also have an older daughter, Allyn Chrisanna, who lives in Tidewater Virginia. Before I chose the profession of a REALTOR I was a career Navy man. I enlisted in the United States Navy in June, 1976 and retired at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer in April, 1998. I was a propulsion engineer and served primarily on Spruance class destroyers, Burke class guided missle destroyers, and the highlight of my career was serving as a craftmaster at Assault Craft Unit FOUR with the Landing Craft, Air Cushion program. I decided to become a REALTOR with the encouragement from Melvin Cooper, who is the owner and Broker in Charge of Waterside Realty of Elizabeth City, Inc. I met Melvin when he sold me a house and we developed a friendship that has endured the years. I have always believed in the entreprenureal spirit that made America great. After about a year of working at Waterside, I made up my mind to answer the challenge of going into business for myself. Everyday I get excited about what I am going to do today. I enjoy the freedom to set my own schedule that a real estate career offers . I also especially like meeting new people. It is very rewarding to see the joy on someone's face when they realize their dream of home ownership. But, real estate is not without its challenges; working with all sorts of people and their unique personalities can prove frustrating at times, but I learn something new everyday and that is why I am able to provide you, my customer, with a premium service. Now a word about my website. It is my primary goal to provide people with information about the real estate market. I do this because an informed person is able to make a wise decision. It is also my goal to provide potential customers with a one-stop shopping experience. I want to offer you everything that you need to buy a home from the looking phase all the way to closing the deal at the attorney's office. A website is a work in progress; it is never truly finished, or at least it shouldn't be. There is always new information because the world around us is always changing.
