Disappearing Inc. Wins Fortune "Cool Company" AwardLeading Business and Investor Magazine Recognizes Disappearing Inc. as Leader in InnovationSAN FRANCISCO-July 2, 2001-Disappearing Inc., a provider of corporate policy management systems, was selected as one of Fortune Magazine's top 25 "Cool Companies" for 2001. The leading business magazine praised the company's Disappearing Email technology, which enables users to write emails in the digital equivalent of disappearing ink and dramatically reduces the risks of unmanaged email archives for the enterprise. Fortune, which has published the annual list since 1993, determines the winners by "poll[ing] the smartest people that we know and comb[ing] through hundreds of startups." For this year's list, given the downturn in the tech sector, the magazine noted that it took a "more sober and measured approach", figuring in a company's ROI and product as well as its "coolness". "We are honored to be named one of Fortune's Cool Companies," said Disappearing Inc. Chairman, CEO and President Mike Burkland. "In today's economy, a 'cool' company delivers a stable, solid, product that fills a market need, has a clear ROI and saves its customers money. Disappearing Inc. fits that description: our Policy Manager uniquely reduces the legal and financial risks that results from unmanaged email archives, and saves our enterprise customers millions of dollars." Disappearing Inc.'s policy management system, Policy Manager, helps enterprises manage the risks associated with unwanted email archives by automatically enforcing their email retention policies. With Policy Manager, which uses the company's proprietary Disappearing Email technology, Microsoft Outlook users can read, write and send email messages the way they always have, but those messages will self-destruct at a time specified by the user or the user's corporate email policy. No special software or configuration is required to receive a Disappearing Email. Press ContactGrace Lee | |||||||||
