Omniva Policy Systems Ships Enterprise Product, Policy ManagerOmniva Corp., Formerly Disappearing Inc., Announces Support for RIM's BlackberrySAN FRANCISCO-July 31, 2001-Omniva Policy Systems, formerly known as Disappearing Inc., today announced immediate availability of its enterprise product, Policy Manager 3.0, which enables companies to implement electronic policies necessary to control distributed electronic assets, including email and messages sent over wireless networks. The company also unveiled its new corporate name and identity, Omniva Policy Systems, replacing Disappearing Inc. "For every email message sent, multiple copies are automatically created and saved in locations over which companies have little or no control," said Mike Burkland, Omniva's chairman, president and CEO. "These unmanaged electronic assets create enormous legal and financial risks for companies. The Omniva Policy Manager enables companies, for the first time, to centrally define, implement and enforce e-policies across the company that will manage these important assets without compromising the productivity of their employees." Featuring the company's well-known "Disappearing Email" deletion policy, Omniva's Policy Manager allows corporations to implement policy-based control that dramatically reduces the corporation's risks and is still easy to use. Specifically, the Policy Manager product suite includes a Policy Studio for defining and implementing e-policies, a Policy Agent for Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes, a powerful back-end Policy Server for transparently enforcing e-policies, and a Policy Monitor for tracking and reporting company-wide e-policy compliance. Recipients of Policy Mail do not need any special software. Omniva's Policy Manager also includes support for Research in Motion's line of wireless email products with the Omniva Policy Gateway for Blackberry. According to Burkland, "Corporate usage of wireless email products like Blackberry has skyrocketed as companies have recognized the need for email to be available and easy to use wherever and whenever employees want or need to use it." He added, "Extending the reach of Policy Manager to wireless users is really just about being responsive to our customers' needs." Mark S. Vitalie, CRM, a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young LLP's Litigation Advisory Services group, and a member of Omniva's e-Policy Advisory Board said, "Helping our clients to mitigate legal risks and exposures associated with mismanaged or uncontrolled records is a primary goal for Ernst & Young's Litigation Advisory Services group, and key to that is working with our clients to develop and implement policies and systems governing the use of e-mail and electronic documents." He added, "Policy Manager is an important tool because it is the first solution that provides an easy and effective way for companies to put e-policies into practice." As an added technological benefit for corporations using Outlook and Exchange, Policy Manager also offers automatic space reclamation from mail servers and PCs-enabling fast, efficient, centralized server capacity optimization and storage cost savings. Additionally, the company unveiled today its new corporate name, Omniva Corp. The shift to the new name and identity from Disappearing Inc. to Omniva Policy Systems will allow the company to better communicate the breadth of its policy-management solution. "While we have loved the clever 'Disappearing Inc.' name, its limited descriptive ability was increasingly confusing for our customers," said Allison Wing, Omniva VP of marketing and business development. "Our name more accurately and completely reflects what we offer: a comprehensive policy management solution that enables corporations to define, implement and enforce a broad range of policies necessary to control distributed electronic assets such as email. In other words, our solution is about much more than deleting unnecessary emails. We have received great feedback and support from our partners and customers, and are excited about this change." About Policy Manager 3.0 Omniva Policy Manager enables companies to set and enforce email policies, and provides central, consistent control over email messages and documents without compromising user productivity.
