Reserver Hotels InterlakenLeaves Hat in Ring After Gingrich Resigns His Responsibility

Gary “Bats” Pelphrey was already planning to run again for Congress inGeorgia’s Sixth District.

Friends and supporters from all over were encouraging Pelphrey to try again –- andcongratulating him on a respectable 30% showing, with a shoestring budget, against NewtGingrich’s political clout and $6.5 million warchest.

Helsingor accommodationThen the news broke that Gingrich was not only dropping out of the race for Speaker, butalso leaving the House entirely.

“This just means the people will get another chance to elect their ownrepresentative, and take back their own government, a little sooner than weexpected,” Pelphrey commented. His key issues will remain campaign reform andaccountable, accessible public service.

Gary’s positions on many issues, and a forum for open discussion of other issues, areavailable at the Gary “Bats” Pelphrey for Congress Web site (pelphrey.org). ThisInternet site is still up and running; you can also ask questions or volunteer via thecampaign e-mail address (gary@pelphrey.org).

The rest of Pelphrey’s campaign is still intact -– including his mid-Junechallenge to Gingrich to debate publicly, early and often, on the issues. He extends thischallenge to all comers, believing that the free exchange of ideas is in the best interestof government by the people.

Gary understands the shock and anger of Sixth District voters that their electedrepresentative considers being their representative ‘beneath him.’ “As Ihave said since May, I will be honored to serve the people in that role,” Pelphreysaid.
