PELPHREY WANTS TO HEAR FROM VOTERS ON ISSUES
Will Collect Input from Citizens on "Challenges of Maturing America"
Sixth District Congressional candidate Gary Pelphrey will hold a public discussion on"The Challenges of Maturing America" at the Theatre in the Square, 11 WhitlockAvenue in downtown Marietta, starting at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 8.
Pelphrey will chair the interactive campaign event, which is designed to give the votersof the Sixth District a chance to talk about issues and problems they face in real life --and reach some agreement on what must be done to solve them.
"Only in America could we turn the medical miracles that have let us live longer andfreed us from once-dreaded diseases into such a crisis as we now face with SocialSecurity, Medicare, and health care in general," Gary noted.
"Rather than leaving these crucial issues to the tender mercies of business as usualin Washington -- 'my special-interest lobbyists will call your special-interest lobbyists, let's do lunch and a deal' -- I want to help the people's voice be heard."
Gary's own thinking on these issues can be seen at the campaign's Internet headquarters(pelphrey.org). At the February 8 forum, however, he plans to listen to his fellowcitizens, and act as moderator to pull everyone's experiences and ideas into a coherentconsensus on what to do -- if not necessarily how best to do it.
five star hotel in PerissaOne key point Pelphrey makes is that progress on these issues and many more is heldhostage by the mess in Washington and the corrupting influence of big money and specialinterests. Reforming campaigns and elections is Gary's top priority.
Pelphrey invites all concerned Sixth District citizens to his February 8 forum. He alsoinvites everyone who is concerned about the mess in government and wants to do somethingabout it to attend one or more of the general candidate forums over the next three weeks.A list of these events is maintained on the pelphrey.org Web site.
Gary also urges all registered voters to go to the polls on Tuesday, February 23."Things can get better as long as we remember that democracy is not a spectatorsport."
