Rider's Comments: The Forest Preserve District of Will County'slargest site is 1,800-acre Hickory Creek Preserve south of Mokena and north of Frankfort.The creek that bears its name runs through the preserve traveling west to the Des PlainesRiver. The preserve is divided into two sections by Wolf Road. The eastern sectionincludes a 1.8-mile asphalt hiking and biking trail, as well as two short packed-earth andmowed turf hiking-only trails (.9 mile) that loop off the main trail.
Hickory Creek is home to the forest preserve district's Environmental Learning Center.Adult educational workshops are offered here year-round covering a wide variety ofenvironmental subjects. Call (708) 479-2255 for more information.
