HOW DOES IT WORK? There are two rays of light. The B ray, or burning ray, and the A ray, or bronzing ray. The higher the B rays in a tanning bed, the faster your tan fades. A rays will go through more layers of skin, so the more A rays in the bed, the longer your tan will last. The sun has 100% B ray and if you do not use a SPF lotion you can get a bad burn. It is important to always use a sunscreen when you are in the sun to block out the harmful B ray. It is better to play in the sun than to lay in the sun.
Low pressure bed (regular bed) This is what most customers are used to. It has 3500 watts of powerand because of the low power they have compensated to put in a high 5% B ray. The burning ray is higher therefore you begin slowly, going either 10 or 15 minutes, depending on the skins content of melanin. The higher the B ray, the more your tan will fade because it stops on the first layer of skin, causing you to go more often. *This is the only bed that requires a monthly package!*
Medium pressure (Orbit Bed) has only a 2.2% B ray with 11,000 watts of power. This bed is 3 times faster than the typical low pressure bed and will not burn most people. It is a maximum of a 12 minute tan. It has 98% of the A ray which is the browning ray and pulls up the melanin immediately to turn the top of the skin brown. Fair skin does very well in this bed. This bed goes through 2 layers of the skin.
High pressure (Omega Bed) has 19,200 watts and each lamp is 2,000 watts. This is a 16 minute bed and you go on each side for 8 minutes. There is only of 1% B ray in this bed. This bed gives you a deep, dark tan. Using this bed with the Orbit, your tan will last 714 days. This bed goes through 4 layers and continues to tan you days after when you are not tanning.
Stand up Bed This bed is good to go into about every fifth tanning session. It has a 2.6 B ray and will give you the type of tan you would find by using the orbit. Maximum time is 15 minutes. This bed will even you out all over. Excellent for psoriasis patients.
