Barclay Brown sets new 12 and 24 hour recumbent records!
Yes, you really ridefor 24 hours! This is one of the Ultramarathon races we participated in, sendingour captain Barclay Brown to ride the purple Lightning in the annualUltramarathon Cycling Association's World 24 Hour Championships. The full reportfrom the Race director is linked below. Barclay was the only recumbent in therace, so he won that division, of course, but more importantly, he broke therecords set last year by Mhyee by about 25 miles at the 12 hour point (midpointof the 24 hour) and about the same at the end. Of course, we're excited andpleased to have records number two and three on MADRaT's log for 1999, the firstbeing the Cross GA record.
Gran hotel EnnisBarclay rode 203 miles in 12 hours and a total of 369 miles in 24 hours toset the UMCA records for unfaired recumbent bicycles (those with no aerodynamicfairing "shells").
