Volunteering

The key to winning this election is sweat equity. Mr. Gingrich has his "Friends ofNewt" organization, and he has political cronies in power in all the localorganizations. The only way we are going to neutralize his organization and his money isby overwhelming him with volunteers.

We need sufficient volunteers to make sure that each of the 497,000 voters in the SixthDistrict knows that they have a choice they can make this year. The numbers show that with1000 volunteers each has about 500 people to talk to. With overlap, and talking inmeetings that number might suggest we need 2000 volunteers.

In order to make this truly a people's election, I want 10,000 volunteers. I don't wantmuch dedicated time (maybe 2-3 hours a week from now on). What I want over and above thatis bringing this election into our daily conversations, around the swimming pool, at thewater cooler, in the grocery checkout lines.

During the two to three hours per week we'll be asking you to do things from thefollowing list: calling people, mailing flyers, distributing flyers, general office work,planning and implementing meetings, getting the vote out, and other things you may thinkof to help us win.
